“Always Moving Forward.”
First draft of the first chapter of the new book I am currently working on. As I thought about this book to encourage us to spend time His Word, spend time in prayer and in worship, I hesitated on the title and matching the direction God would take with this book. I am going to stop substitute teaching the end of this school year. Our time use over retirement will change dramatically. I will have more time to write, spend time with our families and specifically, continue to develop our Parkinson’s ministry. On December 12, we moved into an over 55 community and love it. When I told our older daughter we now live with the old people she said, ”Dad, you are one of the old people”.
To start somewhere, I am still doing well with Parkinson’s. Recently, I have had some issues with swallowing and speaking. I did go to therapy for 10 sessions and some talking exercises worked well. No more trouble swallowing or speaking. I do eat slower and make sure I drink a lot of water. I continue to substitute teach in a few junior highs and have had no problems speaking. Of course, they do not always listen anyway. God has been very good with His blessings. We started a once-a-month Parkinson’s Support Group for our community in January, 2022. This was well received since most Parkinson’s patients are over 55 and 60. Actually, my initial diagnosis came when I was 52.
In addition to God sending us ongoing health challenges, 4 separate friends gave me the title of this book. The title is “Always Moving Forward”. Dale you are always moving forward, so I need to continue to allow God to move me forward (even when I am not sure because He is sure). People are watching me and you too. These friends have held me accountable since sharing the same comment and coming from 4 friends who only know me and not each other. This may be exciting, scary or challenging. We have to remember how we hold each other accountable. God holds us all accountable. Romans 3:19B: “so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world accountable to God”. Right now, I believe I am right where God wants me. I just need to keep Him running my life and not fall off His path. What directioni s your life going and who is in charge?
