Proverbs 19:21 says ”Many are the plans I a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”. Have you come across this verse in your Bible readings? He wants us to seek His will and purpose and not ours. There are a number of Bible verses telling us to seek Him, ask and we will receive. This is where we stop. We need to ask according to His purpose for our lives. As we grow weekly and know Him better, our requests (desires) begin to get closer to His desires for us. As Patti and I have worked through hardships including infertility, cancer, kidney stones and Parkinson’s, we have come closer to knowing and loving God. Unfortunately, when our lives are going good, we tend to spend less time with Him. I am still working on that. Some past and present plans have failed since I did not talk to Him first. The sad part is we start our plans and then ask Him to bless us and our plans. As verse 21 states, we need to get our hearts closer to HIS purpose. We need more time with Him every day. It is amazing how far we have come as a nation and acknowledging God in our lives as a country. It is also insane how far this country has fallen away from God. Back on July 30th, 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a joint resolution from Congress formally adopting “In God We Trust” as the national motto of the United Sates. This was actually done in my lifetime. Pray this week we can reverse this trend in our country.
